Web chat
An always-on, in-app chat surface in the web UI. It is a full-page console at /chat — the first nav tab, before Feeds — with Discord/Slack-style rooms in a sidebar. It complements Nextcloud Talk rather than replacing it: an in-app companion for talking to the bot without leaving the dashboard.
Nextcloud Talk
Istota communicates through Nextcloud Talk using the regular user API (not the bot API). The bot authenticates as an ordinary Nextcloud user, polling conversations it's a member of.
Istota polls an IMAP inbox for incoming messages and sends replies via SMTP.
Istota can receive requests and send final replies over WhatsApp, through one of two adapters. One WhatsApp number. You can send text and photographs; replies come back as text.
SMS
Istota can receive requests and send final replies through Twilio or Telnyx. SMS is one provider-neutral surface: user phone assignments, task history, routing, opt-out state, and delivery records do not change when the provider changes.
